discover the sans geek difference

Why pay more for less?

Two popular services — Best Buy's Geek Squad and Circuit City's Firedog — provide inferior service at a much higher price. For instance…

MP3 Setup and Training
The Geek Squad charges $49 to teach you how to use your new MP3 music player over the phone. For eleven dollars more, Sans Geek will spend an hour in your home or office showing you the basics of bringing your music collection into the digital age. And unlike someone talking to you over the phone, we can actually point at the screen.

Digital Camera Setup and Training
The folks at Firedog charge $150 for an in-home or in-office appointment to show your how to make the most of your new digital camera. With Sans Geek, you could schedule a two-hour training session with our more knowledgeable experts for just $120.

100% Face-to-Face
We'll answer all of your questions face-to-face in your home or office. So instead of speaking to a faceless tech support representative over the phone, or waiting weeks for email support, you'll be able to see (and speak to) a real human being. A human being, we might add, who can not only help you install a printer or setup a wireless network, but also answer any questions you have about them.

No Unexplained "Geek Speak"
For most people, talking about technology is about as simple as speaking a foreign language. ASCI codes? RAID configurations? Sub-pixel rendering? Three terms we will try our best to avoid. And even if we are forced to throw a little technological jargon into the mix, we'll tell you what on earth we mean when we say, "buffer overrun."

Fair, Flexible, Hourly Service

$60 flat rate
Our flat-rate, $60-an-hour, fee never changes. Whether we're helping you to manage your music or removing a virus that's caused a system-wide slowdown, our rate stays the same. And, unlike other companies, we won't round your time up to the next hour. If you only need 45 minutes worth of service, we'll only charge you for three-quarters of an hour.

What's more, each appointment with Sans Geek is scheduled with 30 minutes of flexible time. So, if your quandary is simpler or more complicated than we thought it would be, it's not a problem for your schedule or your pocketbook.*

And while other services might charge you $160 to add a device — like an Xbox or Nintendo Wii — to your home network, our more knowledgeable experts and hourly price mean that you could have the same task accomplished for as little as $30.

Deeper Understanding
While we may speak plain English, that doesn't mean we don't know what's happening under the hood. Where other services merely recruit employees and train them overnight, we have experience speaking the computer's own language.

No Chain, No Pressure
Unlike services from national chains, we have nothing to gain by selling you gadgets and gizmos you don't need. We will never try to sell your our overpriced accessories. Our product recommendations are based solely upon the merits of the software or hardware.
